While hard wood wicks are available, soft wood wicks provide a superior product. They're also advocated for gel wax, vegetable wax and most kinds of paraffin wax.
For the reasons mentioned will find yourself taking photographs where there are lots of different light sources which will affect the white balance of your photos. In part 2, I'm going to resume these tips in more complicated lighting situations. The 1st and most vital tip I'll give is to shoot in RAW. With RAW, even though you had your white balance set wrong on your camera while shooting, you may later be in a position to adjust the white balance while modifying your photographs. The second tip I will offer you is to focus on your light sources. It is simple to recognise when your source of illumination is daylight, but also recognise when your light source is tungsten or fluorescent. Similarly , you've got to make sure there aren't competing light sources when practical. This suggests if you're using a fill flash, it may need a coloured gel to match your most important source of illumination. Do not worry, this is much easier than it sounds. The colour temperature of a flash without any gels is made to match natural light. Since soy wax has a tendency to hold in the heat and smell, the melt pool should be sufficiently big to melt the candle. After the candle has been poured, it should be permitted to set overnite to heal the wick. When the candle has been cured and prepared to light, light the wick from the wax line, not the head of the wick.
